Houston's Drainage Challenge
Houston's combination of heavy clay soil, flat terrain, and intense rainfall events creates drainage challenges unlike most other metro areas. Standing water after rain events is nearly universal — but it's not inevitable. With the right drainage infrastructure, your yard can drain completely within hours rather than days.
What Is a French Drain?
A French drain is a subsurface drainage system consisting of a perforated pipe buried in a gravel-filled trench. Water enters the gravel, flows through the perforations into the pipe, and is carried by gravity (or pump, if needed) away from the problem area to a suitable outlet — typically the street curb, a storm drain, or a daylight outlet at a lower point on the property.
A properly designed French drain considers: trench depth and width, pipe diameter, gravel type and quantity, outlet location, and the drainage catchment area it needs to serve. Get any of these wrong and the system may fail to solve the problem — or make it worse.
"We've been called to fix French drains installed by other contractors who used the wrong pipe, insufficient gravel, or outlets that don't drain properly. A drainage system that doesn't work is worse than no system at all. We design these correctly from the start."
Drainage Solutions We Install
French Drains
Perforated pipe in gravel trenches — the most effective solution for subsurface water accumulation and soggy lawn areas.
Channel Drains
Linear surface drains for collecting water at driveways, patios, and low points before it can pool or enter structures.
Re-Grading
Reshaping the ground surface to create positive drainage away from foundations — the first and most fundamental line of defense.
Dry Creek Beds
Beautiful functional drainage that moves water naturally while providing a decorative landscape feature during dry periods.
Downspout Drainage
Extending and redirecting downspout outlets away from foundations and into appropriate drainage infrastructure.
Rain Gardens
Planted depressions designed to capture and slowly infiltrate runoff — beautiful and functional water management.
Our Process
Site Assessment & Water Flow Analysis
We walk your property during or after rain if possible — or use grade measurements to map how water moves across your site.
System Design
We design a drainage solution sized correctly for your catchment area and soil conditions, with appropriate outlet options.
Installation
Our crew excavates trenches, installs filter fabric, gravel, and pipe in the correct sequence, and backfills with care to restore your lawn.
Testing & Completion
We test outlet flow and verify the system is working before restoration. Within a few weeks, grass regrows over trenched areas.
